Tuesday September 3rd will begin, after 6 months of work, the 25th edition of Montreal Fashion Week, a very important event for the industry of Fashion in Montreal because over 20 designers, chosen by a selection committee, will be presenting their Spring/Summer 2014 collection. If you have the chance to get some tickets, you definitively should go. The price for one show is 25$, but you also can get a one day pass for 75$ or a pass for the entire event fo 175$. I suggest you the shows of Unttld (I saw one of their show at the Fashion and Design Festival and their clothes are wonderful), Rush Couture, Caroline Constas (which is now based in New York), and Ève Gravel. If you like fashion, it’s the perfect moment to get to know designers from here, who are extremely talented, but unfortunately not known enough. Montreal is not a big fashion capital, though I think fashion plays an important role in the lives of Montrealers and, in my opinion, we should try to encourage designers from here. I understand, I am as well a huge fan of big fashion houses such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana or Louis Vuitton, but when we show some interest in what’s being made here, we realize that talent is not missing. I will be at the Fashion week Thursday and Friday as a volunteer. 19 fashion shows will be presented, but there is also a boutique, a conference, an interview, etc. So you have no reason not to come.
